Darell Leiking has extensive experience in legal matters relating to banking and securities, property development, real property transactions, commercial negotiations, joint ventures, government projects and various types of business transactions mostly related to property development and foreign property investments in Sabah.

Darell Leiking was also the principal lawyer attending to the repeal and re-drafting of the Conservation of Environmental Enactment 1996, thereby leading to the now enforced Environmental Protection Enactment 2002 (Sabah). Having had directly drafted the said Enactment, he has been keen to advise on legal issues pertaining to environmental concerns especially for developers in Sabah.

He had served three terms (2004 – 2008) as a Council Member for the Penampang District Council, before requesting in mid 2008 not to be re-appointed. He had also served as a committee member of the Kadazan Society Sabah, as a Board of Governor for St. Michael Secondary School, Penampang and the SJK (C) Yue Min, Penampang respectively.

Since 2013, Leiking has been actively involved in politics, leading to him being elected as a Member of Parliament for two terms (May 2013 – May 2018, May 2018 – present) to date. Since 2 July 2018, he has been serving as Malaysia’s Minister of International Trade and Industry and as such is no longer practising as an Advocate and Solicitor. Nonetheless, our Firm proudly maintains his name in acknowledgement of his work in the founding and establishment of the Firm, as well as all his contribution over the years.
